‘Luminously Sexy’
We were given two adjectives and a typeface. My two adjectives were ‘luminous’ and ‘sexy’ and the typeface I had was Times New Roman. Our job was to pick one of the two adjectives, type it up using the font and apply the two adjectives to the one word.
So, I picked ‘Sexy’ to be the word, I made giant cut outs of the word in Times New Roman, and then applied the adjectives to the word. I went for a cheap, kind of cliché type of ‘sexy’: feathers from a feather boa, pearls, and then diamonds and leopard spots on the letterforms.
When documenting the work, I made sure to use the flash on the camera to expose the scene I had created to add that ‘luminous’ factor. And then touched it up digitally on Photoshop.
I created a bitmap typeface in my Type Design class at Otis College of Art and Design.
The final assignment was to make a type specimen of the font we had spent all semester to create.
